We have been licensed through the MSDN Academic Alliance Program to provide software to students in certain IS Classes at a substantially reduced cost or free download.  We now have the ability to provide the software to you over the Web.

Elgibility Requirements.

1.To be elgible for the software you have to be taking one of the following courses:

• IS350
• IS370
• IS389
• IS445/645
• IS460/660
• IS481/681
• IS475/675
• IS482/682
• IS485/685
• IS746

2. You must have activated and have access to your UNR Email.  You can either check your email through the University's Webmail interface, or you can have your email forwarded to another email account that you have. We will NOT send any information about the MSDNAA program to your personal email address (hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.)

3. Your home computer MUST have Windows 2000 or Windows XP on it.    If you have Windows 95, 98, or ME you will need to plan on upgrading your operating system.  Once you have access to the downloads you will want to get Windows XP with Service Pack 2 first.  You will also need a CD or DVD Burner if you wish to download and install Windows XP.  All of the computers in the COBA Computer Labs have CD Burners that you can download and create the CD's on.

4. High Speed Internet.  Please do not try downloading this from home over dialup.

How the Program Works

At the beginning of each semester we will use the class rosters to get your email address and create your accounts.  You will receive an email to your UNR Email account with a username and password to log into the system.  From there you can download and install the software that we have an agreement to provide to you.  You can only install this software on 1 computer.  DO NOT try installing it on multiple computers. 

There are 3 options for obtaining the software.

1. Download the Software from the system at home
2. Download the software in the labs and burn it to a CD.
3. Purchase the Software through the system for very little money.

The COBA Lab Consultants will NOT be able to download the software and put it on a CD for you. Please do not ask them to do this.   If you are having problems, please click on the Support Button and go thorugh the FAQ's.

You can only download and install software on one computer.  ONLY DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE YOU NEED FOR THE CLASS YOU ARE ENROLLED IN.  Downloading additional software may make the software unavailable for a future class if you get a new computer.
